How To Throw A Real Salt Lake Watch Party

Watching sports games with friends is always fun. But what takes a party to the next level? We held a Real Salt Lake Watch Party in June and we wanted to share with you the things we did to make it fun. Here are 6 things you’ll want to do to throw a banging party.

1. Choose your environment

Ask yourself these questions:
Do you have a lot of space?
How big is your seating area?
Will you be showing the game on numerous televisions?

Those are three very important aspects of how your event will turn out. We had lots of space, seating, and tv’s. But you can easily throw a smaller party for 15 people in your house with one tv.

2. Figure out your budget

Are you trying to do it as cheaply as possible? If so, you might want to invest in looking up some DIY decorations and activities that won’t cost you that much. We were able to use a lot of things that we already had here at The Wall, so it didn’t cost us very much. Use things around your house and games that you already have.

3. Find games or activities to play

What will people be doing during breaks of the game or during halftime?

We wanted a sports bar like feel and so we had a lemonade pong tournament and had some card games out. You can just use a table to play lemonade pong for easy setup. You’ll need to write the rules on a piece of paper so that you don’t need to be supervising it at all times. Buy the ping pong balls, plastic cups, and soda at a store. The card game that we set up was Kemps, which is perfect for groups of people because they pair off into teams.

4. Choose your decorations

You can decorate for a little bit more fun. We had inflatable soccer balls around for people to play with and American Flags hanging up everywhere. Our event was right by July 4th and it’s an American team, so we felt like it was appropriate.

5. Decide on your menu

Do you want to BBQ, serve wings, hamburgers, chips, appetizers, or a full meal? You get to decide! Here at The Wall, we specialize in burgers and fries, but we also have wraps and paninis. You can serve any food that you think that your attendees will want.

6. Set up for the event

The main focus of this event is the game. You will want to move the chairs and/or couches to be facing facing the tv’s. Make sure that no matter where a seat is, they can see the tv. You will also want to make sure that the table for lemonade pong is away from any breakables or food that you have. Set up any decorations that you bought or made and prepare your food. Enjoy the game!
